What We Believe
God is the Creator and Ruler of all creation. He is the Father in the Trinity. He is our Father and provides all the needs of our bodies and souls. He is present everywhere.
(Genesis 1:26)
Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. He gave His life as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world. He arose from the dead and is alive forevermore. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is victorious over sin and death because of His perfect sacrifice and resurrection. He is the only way to God.
(John 14:6)
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son – three persons in the Trinity. He is the “Comforter” who dwells in the hearts of people, convincing them of the truth of Christ’s teachings, convicting them of sin, and helping them live holy lives. The Holy Spirit’s presence is the guarantee of our relationship with God and the source of Christian unity, which is a core tenet of our beliefs.
(John 16:7-11)
People are by nature sinful and cannot make themselves good. We can only be made righteous by accepting God’s forgiveness for sin through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. We are given a new life because of our relationship with Jesus Christ. We obey Christ’s teachings because of our relationship with Him. We were created for a relationship with Him and others.
(John 14:23; Genesis 2:18)
The Bible is the infallible and inspired Word of God, consisting of 39 Old Testament and 27 New Testament books. It is our only standard and truth to show us what we should believe and how we should live. It is for everyone to read so that all may hear God speak to their hearts and minds.
(2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20)
There is but one universal church made up of people of every race who believe in Jesus Christ, regardless of denominational affiliation. Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, and the members are His Body. As the Body of Christ, our task is to carry out the work He began – to make Jesus Christ known to the whole world and to glorify Him!
(Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 1:22)
We believe that membership in God’s church comes through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. A person is born into the church through a spiritual rebirth or awakening. Only God can place the member in the church.
(Romans 10:9-10)
We have three ordinances instituted by Christ in the new covenant: baptism, communion, and foot washing. Those who become Christians will be encouraged to follow the Lord in baptism. Communion is observed monthly. Foot washing is an annual, special service on the Thursday before Easter.
(Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:17-34; John 13:1-17 & 1 Timothy 5:10)
